a prototype for an object orientated
graphical user interface for roof plane design.
Abstract
This report describes how an object orientated graphical user interface and a method to design and construct roof planes could be done. Today no computer program on the market is especially designed to construct and design roof planes. There are, however, quite a few programs for general design tasks in which you can draw almost everything. There are also a number of programs for computations of constructions, but no program that solves both tasks. The user interface and the method has been implemented in a prototype, so it would be easy to look at and to test it.
The prototype became so successful that the principal have decided to develop the prototype to a real program for future distribution. The target group of the program will be constructors and salesmen of houses and trusses, mostly in Sweden and Denmark. Hopefully the program will be used in other countries as well.
