Teachers

Office hours

Teachers will be available for answering questions only at these times: If you want us to explain something in class, let us know in due time and we will do it.

Course schedule

The lectures and problem demonstration classes are the same for all students. The lab work is different for students taking the course at LTU campus or as a distance course. Below you find the schedules for your option.

Extra exam for exchange students

There will be an extra exam for exchange students that will leave Luleå before Christmas. The exam will be on Tuesday, December 19. Other students can also sign up for this exam if they wish. I can not, however, guarantee that the exam will be graded before the original exam in January, so do not sign up for both!

Lab work

The practical part of the labs can be performed in groups of 2-3 students, but the written report and the homework assignments must be done individually. The reason for this is that the lab work is part of the overall examination of the course.

Here you can find MATLAB files needed for the labs.

For those who need an introduction to MATLAB, try this.

Course plan

Will be updated as we go, typically the day before the lecture, so that by the time of the exam, you'll have the complete list.

Old exams

Some old exams will be posted here. These can also be obtained by contacting the student administration at "A-torget", or through their web page.

Some words about cheating

I was hoping never to have to say this, but some students cheat. I want to make it perfectly clear that I do not beleive any of you will do this, and simply by mentioning a thing like this can offend some students. In no way do I want to offend you, and I always assume that you are all honest, hard-working and ambitious students that are here because you want to learn.

Nevertheless, sad things happen and for legal reasons I am obliged to clearly state what is not allowed. I consider it to be cheating if, apart from the obvious in trying to cheat at the written exam:

All this said, I sincerely hope that I never have to mention it again. I am here to help you learn the material. I also strongly encourage that you work together as a group. Discussions are helpful to everyone during the process of learning new material. I am definitely not interested in taking this away. If you work as you have always done, I am sure none of the above will never become an issue.

Sincerely,
Johan Carlson
