* LEP was vice President
1994-96 and President 1996-98 of the Swedish Mathematical Society.
* LEP has been ordinary
member the six last years of the board NT:R (Mathematics
and Technical Mathematics) at The Swedish Research Council, which is a
governments agency that distributes the funding for basic research of the
highest scientific quality in Sweden. Two of these years (e.g. 2012) he has even
been the chairman of the board.
* LEP has been a member
of the Swedish National Committee for Mathematics at the Royal Academy of
Sciences from 1994 and even its secretary during 1995 -2002.
* LEP was the founder of
“Centre of Applied Mathematics” at Luleå University of Technology 1995 and was
its director till 2005.
* LEP was director of “Centre
of Interdisciplinary Mathematics” at Uppsala University during 2007-2009.
* LEP obtained in 2002 the first "Louise Petréns"
award for his special support to female mathematicians in Sweden (In
particular, he has been supervisor for 22 females with PhD exams).
* LEP obtained the Orlicz medal in 2003 for his contributions in mathematical
research.
* LEP received Sammy Lindmark´s award 2004 (50 000 SEK) for his research and
cooperation with the industry in northern

C. SUPERVISING AND
EXAMINATION OF DOCTORAL STUDENTS
* LEP has been a supervisor for fourtynine
students up to their PhD exams. Another 12 students have finished their
Licentiate degrees under his supervision. At the moment LEP is a supervisor of
four doctoral degree students in mathematics at Luleå University of Technology.
Moreover, he is co-supervisor in mathematics of two doctoral degree students in
"Matematik och lärande"(Mathematics education) at other universities.
He is also co-supervisor for one PhD student in mathematics at Uppsala
University, one at Karlstad University, one at Mid-Sweden University and two at
Eurasian National University in Astana, Kazakhstan.
* LEP has been opponent and in grading committees for more than 30 PhD
exams.

* LEP is the author or
coauthor of more than 250 scientific papers and coauthor or editor of 20
published books.
* LEP cooperates with
several persons around the world and, in particular, he has written joint
papers/books together with 158 Mathematicians from 40 different countries
* LEP is editor of
"Journal of Function Spaces and Applications" (he was founder and
Editor-in-Chief for this Journal up to 2010).

at McMaster University, Canada, as visiting professor for one month, at
University of Adam Mickiewicz in Poznan, Poland, as visiting professor for 1.5
month, at Universidad Complutense de Madrid, Spain,

* LEP has been member or
head of the organizing committee for five conferences in mathematics and he has
given more than 50 talks at international conferences (several of these talks
